Shitty First Drafts

After reading this essay I have to say that I was very confused and also was amazed at how this women has so much that goes through her mind all that once. I found it very interesting how Lamott was able to go on and on about this subject that everyone's first draft is "shitty". She went to great lengths to describe that every writer always has a horrible first draft that drives you insane. But then she goes on the describe her one friend who does not have a bad first draft. telling the reader about this is not very necessary but it does end up making sense in the end.

Towards the end her essay Lomott explains to the reader, with lots of imagery, what she does to stop the voices in her head. By doing this she is connecting to the reader by describing obscene and abnormal things that can be done to make writing a lot more easier, and she also finds a way to make the reader laugh. I feel as though that Lamott did a very good job describing what it is like to write the first draft and what may go though a writers mind. Even though it a bit descriptive and some things she talks about is not needed it still all makes sense in the end and also is enjoyable to read.
